Clean the run, clear the floor, follow procedure

The controls are practical and layered. Clean the full exhaust duct to atmosphere on a schedule matched to the volume, not just when a problem shows, and remove fluff from around and under the machines with an industrial vacuum. Run laundry through trained operators working to written procedures: complete every cool-down cycle, unload promptly, and never leave hot loads standing in trolleys. Segregate and process oil-contaminated laundry the same day. For high-risk or post-incident situations, fixed suppression on the dryers is worth considering.

None of this is exotic - it is discipline applied to a routine machine. The hazard is hidden only until it isn't, and in a hotel or care home the cost of finding out is far too high to leave the laundry ductwork off the maintenance schedule.
