The first rule is that nothing hot or live gets cleaned. Electrical equipment is isolated, gas is turned off, fire-suppression is considered, and equipment is left to cool. This protects the team and the kit alike - water and degreasers do not mix with live electrics or hot surfaces. Cover what cannot get wet

Control panels, sockets, motors and electronic components are covered or sealed before cleaning starts, and water and chemicals are kept away from them. This is the step that protects the parts of your equipment most expensive to replace, and it is routine for a team that knows what it is doing. Where panels or doors come off to reach grease, they are removed deliberately, cleaned, dried and refitted.

The right chemistry on the right surface

Heavy baked-on grease needs an alkaline degreaser; lighter soils need less. But strength has to be matched to the surface - the wrong product, or a strong one left to dry on stainless steel, causes streaking, dulling or damage. Products are given their dwell time, then rinsed, and manufacturer-approved chemistry is used where it matters so warranties are not voided. Reassembly matters as much as the clean. Stripped parts are dried completely before they go back - water trapped in a control housing or a motor is how a clean turns into a fault - and the unit is checked as working before the team signs off. Anything that cannot be cleaned safely in place is flagged rather than forced.
